Wow! What a summer we’ve had in the Comox Valley real estate market. As we head into fall, real estate continues to be a driver of economic development. Permits for new single family homes have increased by 51% in the regions of Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland, the CVRD and Campbell River compared to this time last year. Needless to say, this is a significant increase! 

The average sale price of a residential home is up 9% from 2015, but this isn’t turning off buyers. We’ve had a record average of 117 houses selling per month in 2016. Looking back at the previous two years, in 2015 an average of 78 houses sold per month and in 2014 it was 73. The majority of sales are in Courtenay (39%) and Comox (24%). 6% of houses sold are in Cumberland.
